Definition and States of Matter
Matter is defined as anything that has mass and occupies space. Understanding the classification and properties of matter is fundamental to the study of chemistry.
States of Matter: Matter exists in three primary states: solid, liquid, and gas.

Liquids: Have a definite volume but take the shape of their container.
