Problem 5

A company wants to test if the difference in average weekly hours worked by employees in its city A and city B offices is equal to 33 hours. The following data are collected:
City A: xˉ1=42 \(\bar{x}\)_1 = 42 , n1=25 n_1 = 25 , σ1=5 \(\sigma\)_1 = 5
City B: xˉ2=38 \(\bar{x}\)_2 = 38 , n2=30 n_2 = 30 , σ2=6 \(\sigma\)_2 = 6
Test H0:μ1μ2=3 H_0: \(\mu\)_1 - \(\mu\)_2 = 3 versus Ha:μ1μ23 H_a: \(\mu\)_1 - \(\mu\)_2 \(\neq\) 3 at α=0.01 \(\alpha\) = 0.01 . What is your conclusion?
