Problem 17

A patient has a measured urinary urea nitrogen (UUN) of 10 g/day. Estimate the daily protein intake likely required to maintain nitrogen balance if non-urinary nitrogen losses (fecal, integument) are assumed to be 4 g/day, and recall that protein contains approximately 16% nitrogen (i.e., 1 g nitrogen ≈ 6.25 g protein). Show your calculations and round the final protein to one decimal place.
