While the current account shows trade in goods and services, the financial account shows changes in ownership of financial assets between countries. The capital account is a smaller part of the balance of payments that records minor transactions like migrant transfers and the transfer of ownership of fixed assets. It is generally much smaller than the financial account and often close to zero in many countries. While the financial account tracks long-term investments and asset ownership changes, the capital account deals with more trivial or one-time transfers.
