  • Period
    A horizontal row in the periodic table, indicating levels of electron shells for elements.
  • Group
    A vertical column in the periodic table, often sharing similar chemical properties among its elements.
  • Transition Metal
    An element in groups 3 to 12, notable for exhibiting multiple possible charges.
  • Representative Element
    An element in groups 1, 2, and 13 to 18, also called main group or group A element.
  • Inner Transition Metal
    A subset of transition metals located between LA and HF, and AC and RF, often shown separately.
