But where is the variable region located? It's located at the tips of each of these prongs. So this, well, let me use blue. This is the variable region. So, technically number 2 is not correct because the constant region is located in the hinge and the stem and the variable region is located at the ends of the arms or the prongs of the y. Okay. So number 2 is not gonna be one we're going for. What about 3? The variable region is a portion of the light chain of an antibody. It most certainly is. So see in my drawing that the light and the heavy chains at the ends of the prongs or the arms of that y shape are highlighted as the variable region. So the variable region is on the heavy and the light chain. So, yes. And then 4 says the variable region is a portion of the heavy chain. Yes. We just talked about that.
