  • pH Titration Curve

    Graph showing pH change as titrant is added to a solution, used to identify equivalence points.
  • Equivalence Point

    The stage in titration where equal moles of acid and base have reacted, often marked by a sharp pH change.
  • Titrant

    The solution of known concentration added to another solution to determine its concentration during titration.
  • Strong Acid

    An acid that completely dissociates in solution, resulting in a low initial pH.
  • Strong Base

    A base that completely dissociates in solution, resulting in a high initial pH.
  • Half Equivalence Point

    The point in titration where half the amount of titrant needed to reach the equivalence point has been added.
  • Conjugate Base

    The species formed when an acid donates a proton during a chemical reaction.
  • Neutralization

    The reaction between an acid and a base to form water and a salt, often resulting in a pH of 7.
  • Buffer

    A solution that resists changes in pH when small amounts of acid or base are added.
  • Henderson Hasselbalch Equation

    An equation used to calculate the pH of a buffer solution, relating pH, pKa, and the ratio of acid to conjugate base.
  • Weak Acid

    An acid that partially dissociates in solution, resulting in a higher pH than a strong acid.
  • Weak Base

    A base that partially dissociates in solution, resulting in a lower pH than a strong base.
  • Acidic Solution

    A solution with a pH less than 7, often resulting from the presence of a strong acid.
  • Basic Solution

    A solution with a pH greater than 7, often resulting from the presence of a strong base.
  • pH

    A measure of the acidity or basicity of a solution, on a scale from 0 to 14.
